What services does CEHPEA provide?

The Centre for the Evaluation of Health Professionals Educated Abroad (CEHPEA) is a not-for-profit organization. CEHPEA's mandate is to serve solely as an evaluation and training centre.

What is CEHPEA?

With a state-of-the-art examination and education centre, located in downtown Toronto, CEHPEA provides large-scale written and clinical exams on site. CEHPEA offers assessments for candidates for direct entry to residency training programs. We also offer educational programs such as:

  • The Pre-Residency Program for Family Medicine Residency Training
  • The Orientation to Training and Practice in Canada (OTPC) for candidates who have received acceptance for direct entry to Specialty Residency Training

How does CEHPEA operate?

CEHPEA is a not-for-profit organization that is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and governed by a Board of Directors. CEHPEA works in close collaboration with key stakeholders such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, International Medical Graduate representatives, the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine and other regulatory bodies of the various health professions. CEHPEA collaborates with HealthForceOntario, a major initiative of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, to help meet the increased demand for physicians and other health professionals in Ontario.
