Examinations

Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY2)

In Ontario the PGY2 level refers to the second year of postgraduate training. This training is undertaken as a postgraduate medical resident. A resident enjoys the dual status of a) a student registered in a university pursuing certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and b) an employee of one of the Ontario Council of Teaching Hospitals member hospitals, who provides patient care as a by-product of their clinical education experience. For the purposes of CEHPEA, PGY2 Advanced Specialty candidates will be assessed at the second year residency level.
