Eligibility for Practice Ready Assessment

All candidates applying to the Practice Ready Assessment must have experience in an independent professional practice within the last 5 years. In Canada, professional practice refers to clinical activity undertaken in an independent capacity i.e., without supervision. Accordingly, periods of clinical activity undertaken as a medical student (undergraduate, postgraduate or fellow) are not considered periods of professional practice.
Observerships and Research Fellowships are not considered independent professional practice.

Supporting documentation can be in the form of:

  • Letter from medical board, university, or hospital confirming appointment
  • Letter from local licensing authority confirming location of practice and duration of license

Supporting documentation will be included in the candidate's files.
