Orientation to Training and Practice in Canada

"OTPC created a comfortable atmosphere where we could practice and the simulated patients were so helpful. The practice sessions at CEHPEA helped me to further refine skills I had garnered through my life experience and in medical school. There was lots of helpful information. It is so relevant to know and understand the Canadian system as there are many differences among countries and provinces."

Dr. Ahmed Jehaan Illyas
Candidate

The Orientation to Training and Practice in Canada Program (OTPC) is for candidates who have received acceptance for a specialty residency training program in the province of Ontario. The program is three weeks in duration, consists of a blend of classroom and online learning, and is designed to be completed prior to the commencement of the residency program. Online modules can be completed by the learner individually at a time that is convenient to them, and are carefully integrated with the classroom sessions. An array of material is presented and explored, including the patient-centered interview process, documentation, collaboration, and other aspects Canadian medical culture. The OTPC is an intensive preparatory program that addresses key competency areas, while giving candidates a safe environment to hone their skills before residency.
